Spoiler alert: I love the SwitchPod. It is a very portable, very durable, semi-min (compared to its competitors), “foldable/collapsible” tripod that extremely quick to setup/activate and use.
Pros
Extremely easy to attach (1/4-20” threads) to your cameras via the bottom knob.
Extremely easy to “open” and “close”, just a simple flick!
Can be used for general shot stabilization and not just vlogging.
Even more mounts to attach additional peripherals.
Slim profile! Slips in very easy in most bags.
Cons
Most functional only on flat surfaces — to really unlock the use, a ballhead is needed.
Though a lot of work has been done to its ergonomics, it’s actually slightly slippery.
Suggestion: Make the leg that is fixed a different color or have a distinct marking.
Verdict
I urge you to get a SwitchPod (through this link preferably) even if you’re not a vlogger. If you already have a ballhead, then you’re all set!
Make It Perfect
But if you don’t have a ballhead to complete the SwitchPod, I also still suggest getting a Joby GorillaPod (through this link preferably as well) for the few instances that you really need to wrap tripod legs in extremely weird places. You will mostly use the GorillaPod kit for its ballhead, just transfer it from the SwitchPod to your GorillaPod when you need.
